[Okay so it took Shepard some time to finally calm down but once she did, she found herself staring down at her Guide.]

[She felt bad. Even though what he did was wrong, she still felt horrible for even wanting to punch him. Shepard needed to apologize.]

[And so, she ends up calling, wondering if he'd even answer.]

[No matter how pissed he was-- mostly at himself-- he would always pick up for his Commander. Never knew when she would be calling him to pull her ass out of the fire, after all. And he didn't blame her for wanting to punch him after that; he'd crossed a line, and he knew it.]

[And from all the way across the ship, a dark shadow falls over Joker.]

Uh, hey, Gunny.

[Minutes after their spat (more like all out emotional/verbal beatdown), Gunny wanted to call her brother up and apologize, despite how completely shitfaced he was at the time]

[She honestly expected him home within a few hours, taking just a couple more to sober up, and then talking about it. When the hours kept ticking by into and through the 'night', her anxiety built up, but not to the point of full on panic. Still, she didn't sleep. She never slept well unless she knew someone was around, but she'd never gone a full night without it]

[Then another day passed.]

[And another night]

[And her tired mind actually entertained the idea that maybe her brother really meant that he wanted to cut ties (never mind the fact that it wasn't what he'd said at all).]

[So when she caught wind that he'd returned to Normandy, she naturally jumped at the chance to hopefully make things right, or at least confirm just how much she managed to fuck things up between them]

[Which brings us to now!]

[Gunny makes her way down through the CIC (which she'd finally learned the right name for), sneaks up behind her brother in his chair, and meekly holds out the plated sandwich off to his side, still standing behind him and out of sight in case she needs to make a quick getaway]

[And in a change of heart of the player she doesn't really say anything because what the heck]

[Joker had spent most of the first day in hangover-related misery, praying to whatever god might care to listen that he be struck dead on the spot or, barring that, for the goddamn painkillers to kick in already. The latter occurred; he was still waiting on the former.]

[The next day, Joker had gone back to the ship when Gunny was at school (or rather, should have been at school), but he'd made himself scarce before she came back. Whether or not she needed it, she was getting some space.]

[He'd been up at the helm all morning, looking through reports on how the repairs were holding up-- pretty good, because Tali did damn good work-- and he was distracted when his sister made her approach. Joker had thought about manning up and going to talk to her, just to get the whole stupid thing over with, but he was dragging his feet about it and finding excuses to put it off.]

[He startled when a sandwich was thrust into his field of view, then looked at Gunny, then to the sandwich, then back to Gunny.]

Uh. What?

[So when she tries to get aboard the Normandy without her brother noticing? She knows it's a hopeless cause, but she tries anyway. Maybe she thinks she actually has a chance, ooorrr maybe she actually wants to get caught and get the inevitable yelling over and done with. After all, she did spend most of the day running around the ship and doing her best to stay wherever she knows her brother won't go]

[She visibly cringes as the airlock opens, fully expecting him to be there, waiting]

[The external cameras caught her as she approached the ship, and by the time she got up to it, Joker's omnitool had already been pinged and he was at the airlock, waiting.]

[Garrus is just looking for a nightcap really before he heads back to his apartment, and instead of splurging at one of the bars along the way, he decides to peruse the overabundance (which probably says something about the crew) of liquor in the Normandy crew lounge]

[When he saunters in, he doesn't really think much about seeing Joker there, too. And it actually provides a good opening for him to bring up that apology he owes the pilot.]

[So he makes a beeline for behind the bar and unscrews the top of his brandy]

[Everything is always horrible on the Normandy.]

[Joker was sitting at the bar in the lounge when Garrus walked in, eyes fixed on the wall in front of him with a thousand-yard stare that would've impressed a Vietnam vet. There was a tumbler full of some kind of amber-colored liquor in front of him; possibly whiskey, but whatever it was, it smelled like kerosene.]

[He didn't seem to notice when Garrus walked into his field of view to get the brandy until he spoke.]

[Joker knocked back a long swig of liquor; it was time to man up and push his problems aside, because Garrus seemed to be in the mood for talking, and he didn't want to hear about the pilot's bullshit.]

[Time to be the same old Joker, all sass and smartass.]

Would've been shorter if I didn't have some jackass messing up my numbers, but hey, I can't complain.
